Professional Development and Project Expenses: Scholars receive $25,000 per year for two years to subsidize the cost of professional development activities and related project expenses.

Description:	The Macy Faculty Scholars Program, now in its second decade, aims to identify and nurture promising early-career educators in medicine and nursing. The program will help develop the next generation of national leaders in medical and nursing education by identifying outstanding educators, physicians, nurses, and role models—individuals who represent the breadth of diversity seen in learners, patient populations, and health care settings around the country. By providing the Scholars with resources—especially protected time, mentorship, and a professional network of colleagues—the program aims to accelerate Scholars’ careers, to turn their teaching practice into scholarship, and to help them become impactful leaders locally, nationally, and beyond. 1. Salary Support: Up to $100,000 salary support per year for two years for 50% protected time to pursue a mentored educational project at the home institution. 2. Professional Development and Project Expenses: Scholars receive $25,000 per year for two years to subsidize the cost of professional development activities and related project expenses. 3. Formal Mentoring: Each Scholar is assigned one mentor from the National Advisory Committee and one peer mentor from the family of alumni Scholars. 4. Annual Meeting: All Scholars—both active and alumni—gather each year for the Macy Faculty Scholars Annual Meeting. 5. Educational Opportunities: The Macy Foundation pays tuition costs for one Harvard Macy Institute course. 6. Access to Macy Grantees and Programs: Members of the Scholar community become integral members of the broader Macy Foundation family.

Cover page including PI name, department, contact information, project title, any co-PI's name and department, and one paragraph project abstract. 2. Project summary - to include solicitation specific information. (not more than three pages) - 3. Biosketch of PI and any co-PI's (2 - 5 pages, NSF, NIH, or other relevant format). 4. 2-3 names of possible UMN reviewers (NOT References) (with no Conflicts of Interest) plus 5 keywords to be used as search terms for possible reviewers (can be added to Cover Page) Any questions can be submitted to collabor@umn.edu

UMN Selection Process

Once the internal deadline has passed, if the number of applicants is less than or equal to the number of spots the university is allowed to send forward, the applicants automatically become the UMN nominee(s).
If the status of an opportunity is "First-Come, First-Served", there was not time to hold an internal review. Applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
If there are no applicants, the status will change to "Contact Us". At this point, the opportunity changes to a first-come, first-served opportunity.
If there are multiple applicants, the office coordinating the nomination will determine the review criteria and coordinate the review process. The status will change to "In Review".
Once the review has been completed all parties will be notified via email.
Nominees will be provided with an email from RIO (or the designated coordinating office) indicating that they are the university's nominee. This letter should accompany the nominee's proposal.
SPA is notified of the university's nominee(s) and the status is updated to "PI(s) Selected".
