Description: |
We anticipate the Trust will invite UMN applications in early 2022 or before. The Otto Bremer Trust 2022 grant cycle deadlines are February 10, April 14, June 16, and August 11, 2022.
The Otto Bremer Trust seeks to build healthy, vibrant communities by investing in people, places, and opportunities in the Upper Midwest. The Trust's grantmaking focus includes communities in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. The Trust does not have specific strategic grant-making priorities, however offer the following broad categories to explain the types of programs and services they invest in:
1) Basic Needs: short-term assistance through food shelves and outreach programs, cash or vouchers, and auto repair, along with refugee resettlement efforts, transitional housing programs, and homeless shelters.
2) Community Asset Building: Supports a range of activities focused on building strong community assets, such as small business development, diversity initiatives, community planning, long-term housing programs, transportation, literacy, and adult education.
3) Health & Wellbeing: Supports a wide range of care including medical, dental, vision services, and wellness programs for families and the elderly, particularly supporting services in underserved and rural communities.
4) Restorative & Emergency Services: Supports efforts to bring stability to individuals and families facing disruptive forces in life. Grants are directed to programs that address domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and recovery, disaster response, economic stabilization, and helping people navigate the judicial and legal system.
The Otto Bremer Trust is likely to fund one award per year.
The UMF Corporate & Foundation Relations team will work with the UMN applicant selected in the internal submission to coordinate the external application process.
