Description:
The Early Career Cancer Clinical Investigator Award (ECIA) recognizes and supports
outstanding early career clinical investigators who demonstrate a commitment to
becoming an academic clinical researcher and supporting their cancer center’s NCI-
funded clinical trials enterprise. The ECIA is designed to promote the retention of
early career investigators who wish to initiate a career path that focuses on
interventional cancer clinical trials and academic clinical research. The award provides
salary support to individuals who do not have independent research grant funding as a
Principal Investigator.

UM Nominations Process:
Masonic Cancer Center: A one-page description of the candidate’s research strategy and plans for involvement in clinical trials activities, and the candidate’s CV/biosketch - should be emailed to Laura Klein by 5pm, Friday, October 4. These will be reviewed by the Masonic Cancer Center Director and appointed committee to determine designation of nominees.
Masonic Cancer Center Review and designation of final nominee: Thursday, October 10
