HRSA plans to fund awards in five 12-month budget periods for a total five-year period of performance from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2030. Up to $135,000 per year

Description: NOTE: Institutions may apply for the Public Health Catalyst Program or for the Centers of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science, and Practice, but not both

The purpose of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Public Health Catalyst Program is to:

Recruit and train diverse graduate students in MCH public health.
Expand MCH curriculum and degree offerings within schools and programs of public health where there is currently a lack of, or limited, MCH offerings.
Build MCH faculty capacity within schools and programs of public health.

You must select only one of the two Catalyst Program tracks for your application:
Track 1: MCH Curriculum Start-Up
Track 2: MCH Curriculum Expansion

Those interested in applying should submit the following as a single pdf document to collabor@umn.edu no later than 4pm on 12/2/24:

1. Cover page including PI name, department, contact information, project title, any co-PI's name and department, and one paragraph project abstract.
2. Project summary (not more than three pages) - to include solicitation specific information.
3. Biosketch of PI and any co-PI's (2 - 5 pages, NSF or NIH format).
4. 2-3 names of possible reviewers (with no Conflicts of Interest) plus 5 keywords to be used as search terms for possible reviewers (can be added to Cover Page)

Selection Process

  • Once the internal deadline has passed, the status will change to “In Review” and proposals will undergo review.
  • If there are multiple applicants, the office managing the nomination will determine the review criteria and coordinate the review process.
  • Once review has been completed all parties will be notified via email.
  • Nominees will be provided with a letter addressed to the sponsor from the RIO indicating that they are the university's nominee. This letter should accompany the nominee's proposal.
  • SPA is notified of the university's nominee(s) and the status is updated to “PI Selected”.
