Sponsor Deadline: 12/17/2025
Description: This is a unique opportunity that does not limit the number of applications universities are allowed to submit, but does specify that departments, schools, or centers are limited to one application each, with no overlap of team members.

Sponsored by the Capital One Foundation, the Scaling Pathways to Homeownership initiative is a $25 million open call for proposals seeks bold, scalable solutions that expand access to affordable homeownership across the United States. Proposals should address barriers such as housing counseling, consumer education, and for-sale housing production. Lever for Change is administering the grant application process for this call.

Priority will be given to proposals with the potential to create meaningful and measurable impact through resources and tools that address information gaps or supply challenges, improve access, and support homeownership readiness to make it easier for individuals and families to benefit from the wealth-building that can come from homeownership.

The focus of this RFP is on scaling up transformative evidence-based, community-rooted solutions that demonstrate measurable potential to significantly expand access to homeownership in the U.S. within the next five years. Early-stage ideas or approaches will not be competitive in this call. Given that focus, University projects that are led by or include an external partner community-based organization be the most competitive in this call. Sponsor will select grantees after a series of evaluation phases. Grant periods are typically up to 5 years.

Please review the organizational readiness tool and the evaluation rubric to assess your project’s alignment with this highly competitive grant program, and review the application requirements to ensure your project team has the resources and capacity to commit to a full application including written proposal and video.

The UMF Corporate & Foundation Engagement team will work with the UMN applicant selected in the internal submission to coordinate the external application process.
